Job Overview
Our client is seeking a dedicated Heavy Duty Mechanic Graduate with some experience in a mining setup to join their team. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of senior mechanics, gaining hands-on experience in maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty mining equipment. This role offers an excellent opportunity for graduates to build their skills and advance their career in the mining industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Repairs:
- Assist in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of heavy-duty mining equipment, including dump trucks, loaders, excavators, and drill rigs.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and unscheduled repairs to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
- Support the replacement of worn-out parts and components, including hydraulic systems, engines, and transmissions.
- Diagnostics & Troubleshooting:
- Assist in diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults using diagnostic tools and software.
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues in a timely manner, under the guidance of senior mechanics.
- Aid in reading and interpreting equipment manuals and technical schematics to solve complex mechanical problems.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety procedures and protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
- Conduct pre- and post-operation inspections to ensure equipment safety and functionality.
- Participate in safety meetings and report any safety hazards to the supervisor.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance work performed, including repairs, parts used, and time spent on each task.
- Assist in preparing reports on equipment condition, maintenance schedules, and repair activities.
- Support the inventory management of spare parts and tools.
- Learning & Development:
- Participate in on-the-job training and development programs to enhance technical skills.
- Shadow experienced mechanics to learn best practices in equipment maintenance and repair.
- Stay updated on the latest technologies and advancements in heavy-duty machinery.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education:
- Craft Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Heavy Equipment Maintenance, or a related field.
- Experience:
- At least 6 months to 1 year of practical experience in a mining setup, preferably with exposure to heavy-duty machinery.
- Technical Skills:
- Basic knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems in heavy-duty equipment.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and software for equipment troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with mining equipment is a must.
